About

Walking is rooted spatially and in the body; it situates you in place and time. Because of this, I view it is an ideal medium for creating exchange. Through walking, my artistic practice explores the relationships between people and the places they inhabit, as well as the ideas that animate those relationships. My work is presented through free, public walks, which engage on an explicitly local level. I focus on the production of memories, rather than objects, in order to highlight the transformative nature of art and its importance as something to be experienced rather than consumed. In this way, I draw on traditions established by Mierle Laderman Ukeles, Stanley Brouwn, and the writings and experiments of the Situationist International.

I am also a co-founder of the Walk Exchange, an organization committed to creative and educational walks. Since 2010, the Walk Exchange has led an annual training course, an informal monthly walk series, and has partnered with organizations to conduct workshops and site specific projects.
